LEST I FORGET

To aspire for better, to strive for success and to wish for a bountiful life are all perhaps human attributes that are universal.

Stepping out of school, I too, like most of us, was so caught up chasing these in the hope of a fulfilling career and a contented family life that on looking back to the moment of graduating from school and the sojourn to where I stand now, the realisation has dawned, that the imperceptible hands that nudged me all along, has always belonged to our alma mater.

Life lessons conferred by myriad experiences along the way have accorded a degree of clarity to the monumental role Vijayanta Senior Secondary School, its teachers and classmates have had, in my life.

The fire that burns in us had been kindled a long time ago by our alma mater and we owe it to our beloved teachers for finding in us that spark. It is the steel in us that lets us endure rough times, but let’s not forget the hands that forged it. The compassion and kindness within us have been bestowed upon us by the kindness and compassion of those mentoring hands.

Lest I forget, it’s time to offer my gratitude and prayers to my teachers, school and classmates. May all that you so generously endowed upon me continue to be ingrained in students fortunate to pass through the hallowed spaces of our alma mater for eternity.
